Your host for the trip, Eric Nixon, has been traveling the world for the perfect photo for years and will be an excellent mentor on this arctic journey. This will be his 4th excursion to Svalbard. No matter your ability with a camera, Eric will make sure you leave with memorable photos and videos of your experience.

Our expedition leader Fredrik Granath is a leading expert on field work and production in the polar regions. Since 2001, he has been working around the Arctic on his own projects, and also as a producer and adviser for other film- and photographic projects in the Arctic, including work for Hollywood film studios and the National Geographic. With us on this expedition is also Fredrik’s partner, photographer Melissa Schaefer.

In 2017 Fredrik and Melissa did a similar expedition on the MS Freya together with Paul Nicklen and Sea Legacy, supported by Eric Nixon. It was a big success and much of the material has been shared through National Geographic to a worldwide audience, Like this cute clip.

MS Freya is the perfect expedition ship. She is small enough to get close to animals and nature, but also has the strength and power to force her way through close drift ice in a safe way. The ship is newly renovated with spacious twin cabins, a comfortable lounge, a large upper deck and everything we might need for a relaxing and exciting expedition.

When we are not exploring the nature outside our ship, we enjoy the comfort on deck, looking for polar bears, whales, seals and other animals, or relax in the comfortable lounge. After exploring the wilderness of Svalbard we return to Longyearbyen the last evening for farewell dinner at restaurant Huset, one of the best restaurants in Norway.
